Real Name: Deirdre Elaine Cozier
 

Dee D. was born in Oxford/England. Her parents are musicians also. Dee D. learned guitar and piano." Because of the success of Donna Summer and Amanda Lear I got the idea to try out recording in Munich, Germany."

Her real name is Deirdre Elaine Cozier. Her father, ROYSTON, a Frenchman, is a jazz piano player, and her mother GLORIA is singer and dancer.)
Dee D.: "Until my 16th birthday I went to school at Oxford, where I was born on July l5th. Later I wanted to became a singer. My carrer began in a little club where music groups had gigs. But I was not a musician there, I was a waitress. Someone in London told me about Abi Ofarim, who helped young talents in Munich as a producer. I wanted to ask him for a chance, but that failed."

Dee D. asked a salesgirl in a record shop near the Munich Railway Station, where she could meet Abi Ofarim. The salesgirl sent Dee D. to a sound studio, but it was the wrong one.
But fortunately for Dee D. she met some English studio musicians and sound engineers who lived in Munich and made records for Silver Convention. "They took care of me - especially bass player Gary Unwin and his wife Patty. I lived in their house, because I had no money for a hotel."

In a folk club "Song Parnass" Dee D. earned some money. "I sang folk songs tor twenty Deutsche Marks ($10,--/EUR10,--) and accompanied myself with my guitar. Then success came - via the UK." Within 5 weeks Dee D. climbed up the UK charts early in the summer of 1978, and success in other countries followed.

In the mid-1970's Dee D. came to Munich, Germany. She released her first single "Man of a Man" in 1978. "Disco" was at it's top. Gary Unwin (at this time bass player for SILVER CONVENTION, BONEY M, and AMANDA LEAR) produced the science-fiction influenced album "Cosmic Curves" - with the "disco legends" Mats Bjoerklund (guitar) and on a one track Keith Forsey (drums.)

"Cosmic Curves" was produced in 1978 for Ralph Siegel's JUPITER RECORDS in Munich, Germany. Other JUPITER disco artists were SILVER CONVENTION and PENNY McLEAN.)

The first single from the album "Cosmic Curves" was "Automatic Lover" in 1978. Dee D. appeared on Ilja Richter's show "DISCO" on German Television singing "Automatic Lover" where she danced in her silvery space costume around a robot.

"Automatic Lover" reached the TOP TEN around the world and was Dee D.'s biggest hit which sold 6 million singles. At the end of 1978 she followed "Automatic Lover" with "Meteor Man." In 1979 "Fireball." followed "Meteor Man." In 1980 a new album "Thunder and Lighning" was released with the single "SOS (Love to the Rescue.)" These singles became hits also.

In 1980 Dee D. went to the USA (Los Angeles) where she made the "Best Of "Album "The Fantastic Dee D. Jackson."

In 1982 Dee D. came to Italy, her new home, where she owns 3 sound studios now and produces her own music and other artists with producer Mike Generale. Her releases were "Talk to Me" (1981), "Shotgun" (1982), "Moonlight Starlight" (1984), and "Heat of the Night" (1985.) In 1995 a new album was released "Blame it on the Rain" with the single "People" (1996.)

"Dee D. is now a permanent resident of Turin, Italy where she works as a writer and producer for her own company. She still makes television appearances in Italy and France where her single "Meteor Man" was a number 1 hit."

She has three labels that produce house, trance, tribal and occasionally R&B tracks. The company is called DDE records (Divine Dance Experience) - the labels are EYS, DDE, and EXP.

Born Deirdre Elaine Cozier in Oxford, England July 15th, 1954, Dee D. Jackson started her career in the mid 70's in Munich, Germany as a science fiction short films producer, also working in music with Giorgio Moroder and Keith Forsey. She released her first single "Man of a Man" in 1978, followed by her biggest single ever - "Automatic Lover" (also 1978) which became a worldwide hit, reaching #4 on the british charts for more than 8 weeks, #1 in Brazil, Argentina, Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, Germany, Japan ...

In mid 1978, she released her first album "Cosmic Curves", followed by a second album "Thunder & Lightning" at the end of 1980, but other singles failed to get the same chart success as "Automatic Lover". The late 80s saw remixes of "Automatic Lover". Dee D married and had a son and now lives in Turin, Italy, reportedly running a record label D.D.E (Divine Dance Experience), where she produces Hip Hop, Garage and Trance artists...
